2100 N. Update

Thursday, July 8th, 2010
The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.
Traffic at the 2100 N./2300 W. intersection will be shifted onto the new pavement Friday afternoon. (See below for details)

Current Construction Activities

  • With the east leg of the 2100 N./2300 W. intersection now paved, traffic will be shifted over onto the new pavement tomorrow afternoon.  This will allow crews to begin work to excavate and build the remaining portions of the intersection.  Please drive carefully and watch for this new traffic configuration.
  • In preparation for placing new sidewalk in the area, the current pedestrian walkway at the 2300 W./2100 N. intersection has been removed. Work on this sidewalk will be complete in mid-August.  Due to limited area and to expedite construction activities, during this time there will be no designated pedestrian route through this area.  This work has been planned during summer vacation to keep both the workers and the public safe.
  • Over the next two months, there will be concentrated construction operations at the intersection of 2100 N./2300 W.  Residents can expect brief, intermittent one-way flagging operations at the intersection during this time.

Ongoing Project Impacts

  • Crews will continue preparing the west side of the project between the Jordan River and Redwood Road for the future roadway.  This work includes installing walls, placing fill material and early work on bridge and underpass structures.
  • Construction activities east of the railroad tracks are now scheduled to resume in August. Please watch these updates for additional information.
  • In the interest of safety, the small section of Jordan River Trail that falls within the project area has been closed. Access along the trail to the north and south will remain open, but there will be no connecting access through the project during construction.
  • In order to construct the new railroad bridge and subsequently build the roadway beneath the bridge, UTA and UDOT have fully closed 2100 North between 2300 West and Pointe Meadows Drive. This closure will remain in place through Fall of 2011. Motorists should plan to use 1500 North as an alternate route.
