Pioneer Crossing Update: 4/26/2010

I-15 Interchange at American Fork Main Street: Main Street Area (East of I-15) – With traffic now moved to the south side of Main Street, please remember that lanes are narrowed and all left turns into the business areas between State Street and Kawakami Drive are to be made only at signalized intersections.
April 21-May 7: Watch for lane restrictions and shifts on Main Street at U.S. 89 as crews reconstruct the curb, gutter and sidewalks on the south east corner of the intersection.
Ongoing: The right-in turns into Main Street Plaza and the Alpine Shopping Center from westbound Main Street are closed to allow crews to reconstruct the north half of Main Street between U.S. 89 and I-15. The closure will be in place until mid-August. Motorists should use Kawakami Drive to access the shopping centers.
1020 West is closed as crews install utilities down the center of 1020 West and reconstruct the roadway. The closure will be in place through early May. Motorists will need to use 900 West for access to homes and businesses on 1020 West.
Work is underway at the bridge farm location, north of 900 West. Flaggers will be posted at 900 West to guide drivers through the work zone. Work will continue through the night so expect some construction noise.
Work on abutments and bridge support columns for the north bridge of the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) continues near the interchange.
April 26: The southbound on-ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. while workers pave the remaining portion of the on-ramp. The closure date may change depending on weather.
May 1: Southbound I-15 will be restricted to one lane from 11 p.m. Saturday, to 6 a.m. Sunday as crews reconfigure and re-stripe southbound lanes. All southbound traffic will be redirected through the HOV lane during the work.Southbound on and off-ramps at American Fork Main Street will be closed. Access across the Main Street bridge over I-15 will also be restricted during this time. Motorists are advised to use Lehi Main Street.
Ongoing: I-15 will be restricted to two lanes in each direction nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge construction and paving. Please expect periodic restrictions at the on- and off-ramps during these hours. Lane restrictions will continue through the spring. Motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays.
I-15 Travel Lane Changes: The I-15 travel lanes near the American Fork Main Street interchange are narrowed to 11 feet and 10.5 feet and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Please remember, fines for speeding violations are doubled in construction zones.

Mill Pond Road Area in Lehi to American Fork Main St.: North Area – Work to set girders for the Mill Pond Bridge is complete. Work on the bridge deck structure continues. As trucks will be accessing this area, motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays. Flaggers will be posted to guide drivers through the work zone. This work will continue through spring.
South Area – Work on retaining walls will continue through late May.
Mill Pond Road south of the intersection with 8020 North in Lehi (south of the UPRR tracks) will remain closed until mid-summer 2010. Residents traveling north and south in this area can use 200 South to 300 West in American Fork or 300 East to 700 South in Lehi as alternatives.
300 East to Mill Pond Area (Lehi): April 26- Mid-June: 300 East will be closed for utility work and construction of the new intersection. All through traffic will be detoured along Center Street. Other routes are available for area residents affected by the closure.
500 West to 300 East Area (Lehi): April 23: Center Street will reopen at the Pioneer Crossing intersection.
1100 West to 500 West Area (Lehi): Work on sidewalks will begin this week.
1100 West is open.
April 23- Mid-June: 500 West will be closed for utility work and construction of the new intersection. All through traffic will be detoured along 1100 West, Center Street and 1900 South. Other routes are available for area residents affected by the closure.
1700 West to 1100 West Area (Lehi): Construction of the trail undercrossing for the future Dry Creek trail continues. The top portion of the trail undercrossing has been poured.
Work on noise walls will continue through early May.
Work will continue on footings and walls for the Dry Creek box culvert through May.
April 26- May 5: 1700 West will be closed near the Pioneer Crossing intersection to allow for crews to place the final layer of asphalt and raise utility manholes. Motorists should use 2300 West.
2300 West to 1700 West Area (Lehi): Work to install utilities will continue. Crews will begin placing top soil in the park strip in May. Crews will begin installing the posts for the noise walls in early May.

Redwood Road to 2300 West Area (Lehi/ Saratoga Springs): Jordan River Bridge to 2300 West – Work to place top soil in the medians will continue through early May. Crews will begin planting plants and trees once the topsoil is complete.
Jordan River Bridge Area – Crews continue to build retaining walls for the river bridge. Placement of the concrete bridge deck is complete. Work on the bridge approaches will continue through late April.
Work on the Jordan River Parkway Trail crossing at the new Pioneer Crossing bridge continues. Meanwhile, the Trail remains closed approximately one mile north of the trailhead at Wetlands Park in Saratoga Springs. Please do not attempt to cross through the work zone as there are large dump trucks driving through the area. Trail users can access the trail at Willow Park in Lehi. The trail will re-open in its new configuration in early summer.
Redwood Road to Jordan River Area – Work continues on foundations for the permanent signs. Paving will continue through late April. Work to place curb and gutter will begin this week.
General Project Information General work hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Please use caution and slow down as you travel through the construction area as crews, large trucks and other heavy equipment are working nearby. For the safety of the public, we encourage all area residents – especially children – to keep out of the construction area.

2100 North Project Update: 4/21/10
The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change. For safety reasons, one southbound lane on Redwood Road will be closed for several hours during the day on Thursday, April 22, while the crews hang the another new traffic signal mast arm over the travel lane.
Current Construction Activities
Bridge work is underway near the Jordan River this week. Crews will be driving heavy steel bridge supports into the ground in the area beginning Monday, April 26. Residents should expect some increased noise and vibration during this work. Construction activities east of the Jordan River are scheduled to resume in early May. Please watch these updates for additional information.

Ongoing Project Impacts
Crews will continue clearing and placing fill on the west side of the project between the Jordan River and Redwood Road. In the interest of safety, the small section of Jordan River Trail that falls within the project area has been closed. Access along the trail to the north and south will remain open, but there will be no connecting access through the project during construction.
In order to construct the new railroad bridge and subsequently build the roadway beneath the bridge, UTA and UDOT have fully closed 2100 North between 2300 West and Pointe Meadows Drive. This closure will remain in place through Fall of 2011. Motorists should plan to use 1500 North as an alternate route.

Spring Cleanup

The City of Saratoga Springs will be holding its annual Spring Cleanup. Dumpsters will be placed throughout the City on April 19, 2010 and picked up on April 26, 2010.
Dumpsters will be placed at the following location:

Paving Work South of SR-73

Monday, April 19th, 2010
With the power poles now removed from the roadway and temperatures back in the appropriate range for paving, Geneva Rock is scheduled to come back and fill in holes left by the poles. This work is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, and should take about two days to complete. This paving operation will occur behind existing traffic control and will not impact traffic. Please note that this work is weather dependant. In the event that there is rain or cool temperatures on these days, the paving work will be pushed back until dryer or warmer conditions allow.
In May when spring temperatures permit final paving operations, Geneva Rock will return to add the smooth top layer of asphalt.

2100 North Project Update: 4/15/10

The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change. The new signal on Redwood Road is substantially complete, but crews have decided not to activate the signal for the time being. Notice will be given should they need to activate it later.
Current Construction Activities
Work to construct the bridges near the Jordan River has begun. This work includes installing bridge supports and walls. Construction activities east of the Jordan River are scheduled to resume in early May. Please watch these updates for additional information.

Ongoing Project Impacts
Crews will continue clearing and placing fill on the west side of the project between the Jordan River and Redwood Road. Work on the irrigation system continues just east of Redwood Road in preparation for the irrigation season beginning this month. This work will have no impact to traffic. In the interest of safety, the small section of Jordan River Trail that falls within the project area has been closed. Access along the trail to the north and south will remain open, but there will be no connecting access through the project during construction. City Marina Closed

The City Marina will be closed starting Wednesday, April 14, 2010 and will remain closed for approximately 2 weeks. Closure is due to construction taking place near the boat ramp and heavy truck traffic needing to move in and out. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience in this matter.

April 12-19: Watch for lane shifts on U.S. 89 and Main Street as crews reconstruct the curb, gutter and sidewalks on the north corners of the intersection. Intermittent lane closures on westbound Main Street may be required to safely reconstruct the northeast corner.
April 21-May 5: Watch for lane restrictions and shifts on Main Street at U.S. 89 as crews reconstruct the curb, gutter and sidewalks on the south corner of the intersection.

Settlement of the ground is now complete and work will begin this week to remove the surcharge. As trucks will be accessing this area, motorists should anticipate moderate travel delays. Flaggers will be posted to guide drivers through the work zone. This work will continue through spring. Work to set girders for the Mill Pond Bridge is complete.

Road Closure: Lehi Fairfield Road

Please note that the Lehi Fairfield road near Pony Express Parkway (Eagle Mountain) and 800 West (Saratoga Springs) will be closed beginning Monday, April 12, 2010 and will not open up until around April 26, 2010. Road is closed due to a new roadway in the area being worked on. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience in this matter.

2100 North Project Update: 4/8/10

The following are planned activities for the coming week. Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.
As a reminder, crews are at work this week placing the new traffic signal on Redwood Road for the future intersection with 2100 N. The new signal is scheduled to be active in mid-April. (see below for associated traffic impacts on Redwood Rd. ) Current Construction Activities
