Saratoga Springs & Utah Jazz Celebrate Opening of Neptune Park
April 23rd, 2012Press Release-For Immediate Release
The City of Saratoga Springs and the Utah Jazz celebrate the opening of Neptune Park
The City of Saratoga Springs is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new regional park, Neptune Park, located at 473 West 400 North. Built to create a gathering place for the community, as well as a large play area for kids, Neptune Park offers unique play equipment, soccer fields and, through a generous donation from the Utah Jazz organization, six new basketball courts. A large pavilion with picnic tables and a stage for the arts are also part of the amenities available. The park will become the permanent home for the Saratoga Splash, the city’s annual summer event.
“As a new city which has seen tremendous growth over the past 10 years, we have been looking forward to creating a beautiful, distinctive place the community could call its own.” said, Mayor Mia Love. “This wonderful park was designed with the city’s recreational spirit in mind, and its location was selected to take advantage of sweeping views of the Wasatch Mountains and Utah Lake. The scenery and amazing play equipment make this a park unlike any other,”
Neptune Park is named for its featured play structure, the Neptune XXL, which stands 30 feet high, the tallest of its kind in the western hemisphere. This park is also home to an assembly of some of the most distinctive recreational equipment found in any city park. Saratoga Springs’ City Manager Mark Christensen, remarked, “We made a deliberate effort to include play equipment that would encourage unstructured play, pique children’s curiosity and imagination, and tempt adults to join kids in the fun. We are very proud of the work that has gone into creating this park and see it benefiting the generations to come.”
The City of Saratoga Springs and the Utah Jazz will celebrate the park officially on April 25, 2012 at a grand opening and ribbon cutting beginning at 3:30pm. Josh Howard from the Utah Jazz and The Bear will be on hand as part of the official opening, and all are invited and encouraged to experience everything this unique park has to offer.

SR 73; East Commerce Dr. to the Jordan River Construction Notice
April 16th, 2012***Please note that construction is tentatively scheduled for the last week of April, dependent on weather conditions.***
This project will install new pavement on S.R.-73 just west of the Jordan River near the Crossroads area of Saratoga Springs.
- Dependent on warm, dry weather, this work is now tentatively scheduled to begin the last week of April. The project will replace the asphalt along S.R.-73 between Commerce Dr. and the Jordan River. Due to past flooding issues, the current pavement in the area has deteriorated. The project team will be removing it and installing new pavement. Last fall, drainage improvements were installed to alleviate flooding in the area and this pavement work is a continuation of that project.
- One lane will remain open during the work, with flaggers present to direct traffic. Significant traffic delays are expected so drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
- Construction is expected to take approximately one month but will be dependent on weather conditions.
Questions or concerns about this work? Call the Public Information Team at (801) 455-2309.
