Q. Who is responsible for weekly trash pick-ups?
A. Allied Waste has been contracted by the City of Saratoga Springs to supply trash cans to residents and to make weekly pick-ups.
Q. When is trash day?
A. Garbage pick-up is on Thursday, and recycling pick-up is every other Friday.
Guidelines to ensure consistent service:
- All trash/recycle containers must be placed outside by 7 AM
- Place the container in the street with wheels against the curb or within two feet of the blacktop, and the front of the container facing the street.
- Containers must be placed four feet apart from other containers and eight feet from mailboxes, poles, fences, trees, or parked vehicles for easy access.
Q. If my trash was not picked up whom can I call? If my trash can is damaged who can I call?
A. TRASH: If you have followed the guidelines for trash pickup and the can was not emptied, you must call Republic Services (801-785-5935) by 10 AM on your regular pick-up day to schedule a go-back that same day. Residents that call in before garbage collection trucks leave the city around 10 AM can be picked up the same service day. If notification regarding a missed container is made by 3 PM the day after the regular pick-up day, we can schedule a go back for the following Tuesday. If notification regarding a missed container is made after 3 PM the day following the regular pick-up day, we will not be able to return until the next scheduled pick-up day. Other options will be provided (extra bags for the next pick-up day, etc.).
RECYCLE: If you have followed the guidelines for recycle pickup and the can was not emptied, you must call Republic Services (801-785-5935) by 1 PM on your regular pick-up day to schedule a go-back that same day. If notification regarding a missed container is made by 3 PM the Monday after your regular pick-up day, we can schedule a go back for the following Tuesday. If notification regarding a missed container is made after 3 PM the Monday following your regular pick-up day, we will not be able to return until the next scheduled pick-up day. Other options will be provided (extra bags for the next pick-up day, etc.).
**Recycle containers that have trash in them will NOT be dumped as trash and called into the city.
Q. How much is pick up for 1 trash can?
A. The monthly service fee is $11.46 for the first can and $6.50 for each additional can. In addition, for $5.20 more Allied Waste will provide a blue can for recyclables which will be picked up every other Friday.
