S.T.E.A.M. Kids Club

Program Details

S.T.E.A.M. Club is for kids ages 8 to 12 who want to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math!

New activity registration opens monthly on the date indicated below. Subjects change weekly, please just register for one day each week either Tuesday or Thursday.

Intro to Coding for Kids 

How do computers communicate, with humans and with each other? What languages do they speak? Learn the basic answers to these questions and more at our Intro to Coding class! After doing our class research with special guest instructors who code all the time, we will implement what we’ve learned to explore coding apps and create coded jewelry! Why Wolves in Yellowstone?

Few efforts to spur the recovery of endangered animals have evoked as much opposition as reintroducing wolves to the wild. Our class will help students better understand the problems, misconceptions, and controversies surrounding this issue. Kids will draw, read, diagram, chart, play, and learn about these incredible animals!

Mandalas: Patterns in the Universe

Mandalas...beautiful, intricate, symmetrically patterned circles. But how do you make one? Our class will bridge disciplines as we study fractions and divisions, listen to Tchaikovsky, explore yoga, find our centers, and compare colors and shapes. Learning about mandalas will help kids learn cross-curricular connections and enhance learning ability through the visual arts!

Radios: History & Building

Is your radio tuned in? Are you ready to listen to invisible messages that are constantly flying in the air around us? You will be after attending our exciting S.T.E.A.M. class about radios, radio waves, HAM operators, tin cans, Morse code, WW2, antennas, and more!

Intro to Astronomy

Humans have been studying the stars, constellations, and planets  for centuries. What tools do scientists and astronomers use to see deeply into space? How do they calculate distance from Earth to the edge of the Milky Way? You’ll be ready to observe phenomena in the spring and summer night skies after this adventurous class.
